Holding Steady

Mira's morning nurse told us Mira was REALLY awake before we came to visit, and so she had to give her a sedative to help her rest. In fact, we are noticing more and more that she is becoming a lot more aware of her surroundings. Yesterday, her eyes followed a noise happening behind her, she REALLY enjoyed her mouth care (so much that she opened her mouth like a baby bird and stuck her tongue out for more milk!), she grabbed at her ear (something she did before her surgery) and grasped our hands with her little fingers. Its nice to see more of her, but I just worry that being coherent with an open chest has got to be a bit uncomfortable....
Her medications continue to come down little by little. Yesterday they brought the medication that controls her arrythymia down just a bit, and they noticed intermittent issues with her heart beat (apparently, if I am explaining this correctly-sometimes her heartbeat will originate from a part of her heart that is shouldn't. This is another way that her heart seems to want to do its own thing. When this happens they either pace her, or if she is already being paced, they will turn up her pacer to a higher heart rate, so hers cannot compete).
Her edema looked so much better! We could actually SEE her knees and her eyes look so much less puffy. I am hoping that her swelling continues to go only down, down, down.
John went back to work yesterday and it was nice to have visitors break up my being at the hospital on my own. Great Grandma Wilde and Great Aunt Linda visited, along with her grandmas and Aunt Katie. Its going to be different having John at work, but Mira and I so appreciate his ability to go in and provide for his family-to put aside his stress or emotions and get down to business! Mira, your daddy is a pretty amazing guy, isn't he? I think you already know that, don't you?
Hopefully these posts continue to update you on Mira's upward swing! I have a feeling her milestones are going to just keep getting bigger and better!
